In December, the Musical Labyrinth returns to hetpaleis in Antwerp. 

A guide will take you through the building for an active adventure. On your path you will encounter various sound and music installations.

Zonzo's Musical Labyrinth will be part of Spinrag Festival in Kortrijk. On the 26th and 27th of February you can discover the most exciting sound installations at Music centre Track! 

THESE BIRDS ARE FLYING TO THE NORTH
ChampdAction
Fifty cages of mechanical birds are hanging in the air. Clap your hands or whistle a song to wake them up… a chirping, twittering installation!

MOBILE TOUCH
STEIM & Fedde ten Berge
Mobile Touch is a colourful collection of instruments invented at the STEIM sound laboratory. You don’t need years of practice to play them: a simple touch is usually enough to bring these curious creations to life.

OSCIBOUNCER
David Jongen & Elize Rausch
Jump for music! OsciBouncer invites you to forget all your worries and bounce up and down on the trampoline. It matters how high and how energetically you jump, because your movements affect the lights and sounds.

SPOTTER
Chris Koolmees
This slightly addictive dance machine will convert your unique dance moves into brilliant video scenes and music. You can compose your own music as well as conjuring up amazing video images just by dancing. Spotter invites you to move, fly, fall and make music.

YOUR PLACE IN SPACETIME
Ed Devane (IE) 
A series of tubes are arranged in a large circle. If you come closer, they will sound louder or softer, if you move hard you might hear a solid beat. You are invited to experiment and find your ideal place or movement in the space for your favorite sound.

Discover Serafyn, the angelic installation by creator, clarinetist and performer Toon Quanten.

ROBOT ORCHESTRA
Logos Foundation & Godfried-Willem Raes (BE)
In silence, four musical robots await your arrival. When you come closer, they wake up and react to your movements. There is music! With their sensitive sensors they notice the slightest movement. Discover what a small movement with your little finger sounds like, swing your arms and legs for a solid drum, or try to stand motionless, your breath held in order to silence Korn, Toypi, Snar and Temblo.

ZOG
Karlijn Hamer & Mathijs de Valk (NL)
In a field of dozens of speakers, Karlijn Hamer (vocals) and Mathijs de Valk (electronics) play their electronic lament in search of hope in times of unrest. Wandering between the sound sources, the audience is overwhelmed by the music: the vocals stretch and multiply through the speakers into an ever-growing sorrow that pours itself out over you and clears up again.

HACKING THE MUSIC
ChampdAction & Tiptoe Company (BE)
Hacking the music in the kitchen makes a kitchen sizzle. The laid table vibrates to the rhythm, an iron blasts sound through the boxes, blenders swing and electric knives sing. Not a chef, but a conductor directs the tones here with a steady hand and wooden spoon. 

NOISY NEIGHBOURS
Ine Van Baelen, Stijn Grupping & Zonzo Compagnie (BE)
An apartment block somewhere in a city, somewhere in a country. Children seem to live here on their own, or have their parents just left the house or are they sleeping? The only thing we know for sure is that all the neighbors are musicians.Take a look inside these curious apartments full of musical discoveries!

The Music Labyrinth takes place from late December 2021 through early January 2022.

Pedal with this pack of musical home trainers and become part of a well-oiled choir! Every turn of the pedals powers your unusual musical instrument towards a raucous glissando.

TALKING GONGS

Two large gongs are hanging in the air. They seem to be talking to each other. Vibrations are converted into sound and jump from one gong to the other. Can you follow their conversation?

Choose a stick and play one of the 36 carefully tuned pipes in this strange set of chimes. Changing the position of the pipes will create different effects every time.

ROCKING CHAIRS

It’s like a dream come true: making music while you rock backwards and forwards in a rocking chair. While rocking you discover how you can change the music by coordinating the movements of the chairs. Lean back, relax and make music on the Rocking Chairs!

KLOPOTEC ORKESTRA
Hans Beckers
Hans Beckers visited the Krakkeslottet, a magical old wooden house in Norway. There he built klopotecs, Slovenian ratchet windmills made of scrap wood. What was once used to chase the snakes out of vineyards is now an intriguing sound installation.

ACCORDING TO CAGE
Teun De Lange
According to Cage explores the possibilities of interactive music. Song, whistling, noise and suchlike. All kinds of sounds are selected automatically and sometimes catapulted into a new key.

MUZIEKROBOT
Stichting Logos
This robot has a strange name. He may be called Korn, Snar, Whisper or Toypi. He says nothing until you get really close. Then he responds to every move you make and he is ready for a unique duet.

STAPSTRUMENT
Stichting Logos
With Stapstrument everyone gets a small pump strapped to their feet to be used as a bellows. With the ball and heel of your foot you play the separate mobile organ pipes. By coming to simple arrangements you can have fun making music together: loud or quiet, fast or slow, high or low.
