Zonzo Compagnie is conquering the world with its portraits of composers. It has tackled iconic composers such Johann Sebastian Bach, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and John Cage, resulting in long series of performances and a cabinet full of awards. The English baroque composer Henry Purcell is next in line. A Belgian and Canadian team full of top talent is pulling out all the stops to recreate his imaginative universe.
At centre stage is a huge magic box, a gigantic model of an old theatre. Call it a dream machine, if you like. When the curtains open, miracles happen. You have to see it to believe it: Zonzo Compagnie goes all out to sweep you away into a dream, a wonderful world for which Purcell wrote beautiful music.

In and around the model theatre are a singer and two musicians: one plays the lute, the other the accordion. Together they are the ideal team to make the colours of Purcell’s repertoire sparkle. With melodies and harmonies, they guide you down the unfathomable pathways of the imagination. Anyone who is new to Purcell is bound to leave this production as a fan, eager to top up their playlist with hits from The Fairy Queen, King Arthur or the Funeral of Queen Mary.
